Good Morning Sisters!
Today is International Women's Day and at White House, I think it's important we take the day to celebrate the fantastic ladies who have helped build White House into the Establishment it is today!
What is International Women's Day?
International Women's Day started at its grassroots in New York City on the 28th February 1909 (That's 110 years ago this year!)
It was used in the form of female empowerment, to the workplace and equal rights and in the following year, in 1910, the International Socialist Woman's Conference suggested that a "Women's Day" should be held annually.
In 1914, the International Women's Day was held on the 8th March, falling on a Sunday, and since then it has been held on that day Internationally, however in some countries, this day is still widely ignored and highlights the many inequalities females still face in certain countries, workplaces and social settings globally.
Women's Suffrage, in the support of the right to vote and the equality of women and men, has been fought for prominently and globally for over a century, with the most famous Suffrage movement beginning in the UK with political activists such as Emmeline Pankhurst, Christabel Pankhurst and Millicent Fawcett (I've linked them all by name if you'd like to check them out)
In a modern world, many celebrities such as Beyonce, Oprah, Eartha Kitt, Malala Yousafzai, Emma Watson and Jameela Jamil fight for the global equality and respect that women deserve on a public and political platform.
Today we celebrate our fantastic females, for without them WHO BE GIVING BIRTH?
For today only, the Administration has decided to hold a competition for all members of our White House community to participate.
You shall be permitted (including our LR's) to wear Purple all day today, if you're found in purple, your name shall be entered into a raffle to WIN 31 DAYS HC in the spirit of International Women's Day!
Have a wonderful day, respect those women around you and build equal platforms for all!
Lots of Love, as always,
25th President of Habbo White House
